AARON HOWE
ARTISTIC DIRECTOR Aaron Howe has been making music in New Mexico for nearly 25 years. He received his Bachelor of Music Education from Eastern New Mexico University and his Master of Music from the University of New Mexico. He has served as the Artistic Director for the New Mexico Gay Men’s Chorus since 2010, programming and conducting their concert seasons, and helping to fulfill their mission of changing the world through music. Since 2018 Aaron has also served as the Chorus Master for Opera Southwest, a regional professional opera company that has created wonderful operas for over 50 years. His past achievements include artistic directing Zia Singers, a women’s chorus in Santa Fe, from 2016-2024, co-founding and directing the Rio Rancho Youth Chorus from 2013-2022, and directing choral activities and St. Pius High School 2004-2009. Aaron has served as music minister at multiple churches, including Heights 1st Church of the Nazarene, Community of Joy Lutheran Church, and Metropolitan Community Church. He has also had the pleasure to music direct numerous community musicals with Musical Theatre Southwest, Albuquerque Little Theater, and Play Conservatory. COLIN BURDGE
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR Colin Burdge, an Albuquerque native, has been an avid musician his entire life. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Music Performance from Gonzaga University. He has performed as a featured soloist with the New Mexico Symphonic Chorus and the New Mexico Philharmonic. Colin is very involved in Albuquerque community theatre, appearing in lead and principal roles at the Albuquerque Little Theatre, Landmark Musicals and Musical Theatre Southwest. Colin made his debut as a music director on MTS’ recent production of Nine. He is incredibly honored to serve as Assistant Music Director of the NM Gay Men’s Chorus and Director of the NM QTones. Thanks to the NMGMC Board of Directors and Chorus Leadership for trusting him with this position, and eternal thanks to Aaron Howe for his direction, his patience and his guidance. |
MIKE BORING
ACCOMPANIST Mike Boring received his Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, where he grew up and lived until moving with his husband to Albuquerque in 2016. He is the pianist for the Bosque School performing arts department and for New Mexico Young Actors. He is also the music director and pianist at La Mesa Presbyterian Church and has accompanied over 50 musical theatre productions. Back in Kansas/Missouri he sang with the Lawrence Civic Choir, the Kansas City Fine Arts Chorale, and the Heartland Men’s Chorus. Having served as the interim accompanist for our June 2019 Pride concert, Mike became our permanent accompanist at our Holiday 2019 concert. |
