In a world that has never stopped debating our right to simply be, we gather — not in defiance, but in declaration.
Existence is Resistance is a celebration of the radical, revolutionary act of living authentically as your LGBTQ+ self. Every sequin, every pronoun, every hand held in public — these are not small things. They are protests. They are power.
Being queer has never been just personal. It is political. It is historical. From the person who came out at their kitchen table last Tuesday to the activists who refused to disappear — every form of authentic queer existence belongs on this stage and in this crowd.
Come as you are. Come as who you've always been.
Because your existence is not just enough — it is the protest.

4800 Central Avenue SE, Albuquerque, NM Accessible SeatingStairs are required to access seating areas at the Hiland Theater, which may present challenges for guests with mobility limitations. For the most comfortable experience, audience members who use wheelchairs, walkers, canes, or who have difficulty with stairs are strongly encouraged to select seats on or as close to the main floor as possible. A designated section of accessible seating is available for purchase, and guests needing additional assistance with seating options are invited to contact the Ticketing Manager at [email protected] or 505-569-0097. The Hiland Theater is an iconic mid-century landmark located on Route 66 in Albuquerque’s Nob Hill, celebrated for its distinctive Streamline Moderne architectural style and illuminated by its animated neon signage. Opened in 1950 as the city's first suburban movie palace, it originally offered stadium-style seating for 1,188 guests and quickly became a favorite destination for local families and moviegoers throughout the postwar era.
After nearly five decades as a cinema, the Hiland underwent a major renovation and was reborn in 2012 as the vibrant home of the National Dance Institute of New Mexico. Today, the venue features a fully equipped 600-seat theater, eight dedicated dance studios, and modern administrative offices, creating a dynamic space for performances and youth development programs. The Hiland continues to bring together audiences of all ages, hosting youth and community performances, dance programs, and special events that honor Albuquerque’s rich cultural heritage.
